Weightlifting Exercises to Build Muscles!

Most of us, who are seriously into exercising and fitness, yearn for big and well toned muscles. The reason being big muscles are easily visible. Just wear a tight t-shirt and it is very easy to flaunt your body if you have well-built muscles.

Most of us join a gym to gain some muscles and not really for cardiovascular exercises, though they are useful exercises as well. So what is the best way to get big muscles?

You don't really have to spend hours and hours in the gym, but if you have not been using weight-training in your exercise routine, then you need to start doing so at the earliest.

Weightlifting exercises are the best way for building muscle mass in short span of time. You need to use the right weightlifting workout routine for maximum effectiveness.

Though most of us would now that lifting weights is helpful in building muscles, very few of us would know that it also helps in losing the overall body fat.

Here are some exercises using weights that you can try out at the gym or at home, if you have a home gym.

Chest Exercises: Dumbbell Flyes, Incline Bench Press - will help you develop broad shoulders. Back Exercises: Seated Rows, Pulldowns - for a strong back to support your chest and abs. Leg Exercises: Squats, Leg Press - for a proportionate body Arm Exercises: Curls, Tricep Extensions - for a strong upper body

Weightlifting exercises should help you achieve big muscles much faster. Though most of these exercises require gym equipment, you can even do most of these exercises with dumbbells.

Revisit Your Childhood and Get Fit With These Fun Exercises!

Lots of us believe that taking exercise has to follow a set routine at a specific time. In a way, it's almost like scheduling a set of chores, and it's one of the reasons many of us quickly go from being eager to making excuses not to when it comes to working out. It doesn't have to be like that!

You can easily put the fun back into exercising and enjoy getting fit, simply by revisiting parts of your childhood. You see, much of the play that we did as children was also exercise - we just didn't know it at the time. Now, I'm not suggesting you rush over to the nearest jungle gym and start swinging from the top bars (unless you have a burning desire to). No, what I have in mind are fun activities that raise your heart rate, don't alarm passers by and make you feel happy while getting you fitter. So without any further ado lets look at four fun childhood activities you can revive for your health's sake:

1. Hula Hoops. This has got to be one of the most fun ways to trim your waist! Hula hoops are also good for general fitness. You may be surprised how tricky these are to use at first, but don't let that put you off - you'll have a fun time learning. There are hula hoops made specifically for exercise nowadays, heavier and wider than the toy version; the extra weight helps make it easier to revolve the hoop around your middle.

2. Skipping. Skipping is one of the best cardiovascular exercises around, burning between 100 and 200 calories in a fifteen-minute session. It's also great at building your endurance levels. All you need are supportive exercise trainers, an inexpensive jump rope, plenty of room to swing it and enough puff to do it for a little while! It's hard work, so build up slowly. For a fun element, add in friends to take either end of the rope. Remember double-Dutch and trick jumps?

3. Trampolining. You can't have failed to notice how many trampolines can be seen in back yards nowadays. And with good reason - they're fun! They're also great at getting you out of breath. If you can get the kids off it long enough, using a trampoline will give you a great cardiovascular workout and help strengthen your bones. It's fairly low impact too, so easier on the joints. You can get a mini exercise trampoline if you don't have kids as an excuse to buy a big one! One thing to remember on the larger trampolines is to add in a safety net (so you don't end up on a TV bloopers show).

4. Be a kid with your kids. Get out and about with your kids and be active! Whether it's playing rounders in the park, tag in the back yard, swimming at the local pool or running up and rolling down a hill, playing with your kids will help you get fit. And it will keep them fit too! Moreover, you'll be setting a great example to them.

Reliving your childhood activities can help give you a great fitness workout as an adult. Remember, it's all about having fun!

Increase Height by Exercise - It's Time We Adults Start Growing Taller Again

How much do you want to become taller? I know some people who are desperate enough to spend thousands of dollars for limb lengthening surgeries that are painful, dangerous, and take a long time to heal...just to be a few inches taller. If only they knew there is a much easier way to increase height by exercise.

Being tall is becoming a very crucial factor in today's world. There is a hint of discrimination against people who are shorter, both in the social and professional circle. In fact, studies show that shorter men and women are less likely to ascend to the CEO chairs of Fortune 500 companies.

You don't have to regret the rest of your life being short. Because today, you can very well start on a remarkable transformation into becoming a taller you.

Height increase exercise works by stimulating your body to produce more human growth hormone (HGH) naturally into your system. The HGH works as a catalyst, triggering the liver to produce a protein substance called IGF-1.

To explain in simpler ways, IGF-1 helps to thicken the cartilage portions at the ends of your thigh and shin bones to create an increase in height of about a few inches.

Not only do these exercises stimulate the secretion of HGH, the stretching movements help to maximize the length of your backbone by (1) decompressing the discs in between the many vertebrae, and (2) correct the curvature and alignment of your spine.

Individually, these can be considered small increases. But collectively, you stand to gain at least 2 inches in height just by doing these special set of exercises!

Wait, did I say special? Yes I did...special in that the exercises have been designed by fitness experts to laser focus on the growing aspect of the human body.

But don't worry, there is no need for special gym equipment. In fact, you can easily do these exercise routines in the privacy and comfort of your own bedroom.

And if you are determined enough to increase height by exercise, you might end up not recognizing who you see in the mirror in a few weeks time *wink*.

So my question to you is...are you SERIOUS about increasing your height?
Here is what you can do for yourself today:

1) Start off with these simple stretching exercises to increase height naturally, OR

2) Fast track your dreams of getting taller in just a few weeks with a professional height increase program.

You CAN definitely grow taller if you are determined to do so. Get started now!

Learning to Deal With Curly Hair

Whether you've always had curly hair, have recently had a perm, or even if you're trying to learn to work with curly hair for your child's sake, you are facing a bit of a challenge, but one that is doable. From large, loose waves to kinky ringlets, locks with curl can require more work to look good than straighter styles. In order for this type of hair to look good, it must be kept healthy and free from damage and split ends. The curlier the hair, the more you'll need a good detangling conditioner. Fortunately, there are techniques and products designed just for you.

Shampoo & Conditioner

In order to tame that wild mane, you'll need to choose a good shampoo that is made for your type of hair. Consult your hairdresser for recommendations of shampoos that will enhance your curl without leaving residue behind. Select a conditioner that will add moisture to your tresses without weighing them down.
After shampooing and rinsing your hair, apply conditioner throughout and untangle gently with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb. Start at the tips of your hair and gradually work your way up to the roots, working all the tangles out. Rinse your hair with cool water to promote shine and reduce frizz.

Styling it Up

There are many different types of styling products that work well with curly hair. Make sure to ask your hairdresser for a recommendation next time you visit the salon. Some popular styling products for curly hair include:

Gel
Mousse
Setting lotion
Styling cream
Pomade
Frizz Serum

You may want to experiment with various types of product to see what works best with your hair.
After washing and conditioning your hair, comb through it with a pick or wide-toothed comb to remove any leftover tangles. Next, apply a small amount of your chosen styling product to your hair from roots to ends. If you want a curlier head of hair, you can scrunch it and tie it up in a messy ponytail until it air dries. For a looser curl with body, blow dry your hair using a diffuser attachment.

Deep Conditioning Treatments

Once or twice a month (depending on the condition of your hair) you should apply a deep conditioning treatment to your hair. After a regular washing and conditioning, squeeze all water out from your hair and towel dry. Apply a thick, deep conditioning cream or mask, and then put your hair in a disposable plastic shower cap. Next, use a heating unit such as a blow dryer cap, hot water bottle or heating pad to apply heat to your head for approximately twenty minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the cap and allow your hair to cool for 5 minutes. Rinse most of the deep conditioner out with warm water, then turn the water to the coldest temperature you can stand and rinse out the rest. Make sure not to wash your hair the next day in order to give your hair a break.

Organic hair gel, creams, and sprays are 100% natural and won't cause irritation, hair loss or other harmful side effects. Most importantly, natural shampoo will give you a perfectly styled look without leaving your hair feeling dehydrated or plasticized.

Eye Make Up 101

Whenever we look into someone's eyes, we feel we can learn a lot about them even before they say a single word. Eyes are considered to be the windows to the soul. Eyes are beautiful. Yes your eyes too are beautiful. The eyes naturally draw attention to themselves whether we like it or not. It is easy to use eye make up in order to enhance what you would like to say with your eyes. It is really not very hard, here are some guidelines for basic eye make up application.

Foundation
If there are no skin blemishes there may be no need for foundation. Apply cream concealer using a concealer brush on the eye lids and under the eyes followed by applying foundation where needed only. When applying powder to an area around the eyes, for reducing shine and setting the concealer, use a sponge and not a powder puff. A sponge will allow you a finer application and not allow powder to set in wrinkle lines (which creates a "plastic" artificial look). This is especially true for mature skin.

Eye lash curlers

If you want the effect of long curled lashes make sure you use curlers properly. Eyelash curlers are probably the most misused make up tool. Don't squeeze eyelash curlers too hard, this can potentially damage eyelashes. Proper usage involves quick light squeezes. Some say the best eye lash curler is a simple, slightly heated, spoon.

Application of mascara

When applying mascara it is important not to blink in order to prevent it sticking to eyelids. Also make sure that if you apply a second coat to do so before the first one dries to avoid clumping. Apply mascara to top lashes by holding the brush horizontally using a firm outward stroke. For the lower lashes use the tip of the mascara wand and side to side stokes. First apply mascara to base of lashes and then get excess mascara off the wand by giving it a wiggle and wiping it wish some tissue paper before brushing to the tips of eye lashes.

Eye Liner

Small eyes or average sized sunken eyes will appear smaller when applying eyeliner over eye-lids and so eye liner is not for everyone. On the other hand, emphasis with a pencil on the outer third of the upper eyelid, can make wonders for small or sunken eyes. Trace the line just above where eye lashes grow out, anchoring your elbow against your thigh or chest of drawers will help you keep you hands steady and your aim true. Try on different shades and patterns to experiment with different looks.

Once you get the hang of these basics you will have killer looks in no time.

How to Apply Blush on Your Cheeks

For most women, applying foundation makeup, makeup blushes, lipstick and eyeliner on their face is a daily ritual. They would never dream of leaving their house without being properly made up. That would be like going out of the house without any clothes on! Makeup is as important to their face as shoes are to their feet.

What is Your Skin Tone?

Applying the correct blush means being aware of your skin tone and what color or shade will match it. It also means using the right brush and the correct brush stroke to apply your blush.

Aside from this, using the right shade of blush depends on the time of day and the color of your clothes. For example, it would not do to be wearing orange blush when you are wearing a fuchsia colored blouse! A light pink blush will also not do anything for your face if you are going to have an evening out, since it would hardly be seen.

Skin Tone Colors Tip

If you are struggling with finding your correct skin tone, why not consult the experts? Salespeople in beauty shops are familiar with different tones and the best shades of blush makeup to match your skin tone. You could also check with your beauty consultant (if you have one) and ask what shades would give your face the right warm glow.

Applying Blush

There are different ways of applying blush on the cheeks. It is done after you have applied foundation on your face. When you apply blush properly, you will help bring out the highlights of your face and bring out its radiance, no matter how ordinary or plain your face may be. The way you apply blush can be the decisive factor in bringing out your face's structural beauty. It can also add shape to a flat or long face, or make your face look less plump and on the narrow side.

Skin Type

Now to choose the right formula for your skin type. If your skin is oily or a combination, using a powder type of blush is best. Dry skin needs cream formula and oily skin alone will look great with liquid and gel. If you want, you can apply cream and then apply powder to make the blush last longer. Also, experts suggest that you use a professional full blush brush when applying it. Put blush on the brush and tap off any excess powder before brushing it on your cheeks.

Just remember, to apply blush properly, brush in one direction only. Just follow these tips and your blushing days will be problem free.

Human Security in South Asia - Challenges and Solution

Providing security to citizens is one of the primary duties of a state. Recently there is paradigm shift in understanding of security, traditional meaning of security identified with strategic affairs has undergone a change, and replaced by wider concept of human security. In contemporary world politics, state's security will not regarded as complete without incorporating concerns of individuals, which make them insecure in daily life. According to the United Nations Development Report of 1994, seven components are basic to human security. These are economic security, food security, health security, environment security, personal security, community security, and political security.

Challenges to Human Security in South Asia:

South Asia is the home of 23 percent of humanity, amongst them 31.7 percent are living in abject poverty, the figures ranges from 20 to 50 percent in different nations considering nationally defined poverty lines. Chronic poverty coupled with unemployment leads to complete contradiction with economic security. Unemployment in the region has grown by 3 to 4 percent in last one decade and in some countries by the rate of 7 to 8 percent. Education a measure of human capital and critical determinant of economic progress has not crossed the figure of 50 percent of the population in many South Asian countries. According to World Bank between '2002 to 2005', number of out-of-school children of primary school age in South Asia is 26 million. The pace of spreading education in South Asia is far from optimum requirements of globalization where skilled labour force has its own advantages.

Health security in South Asia has dismal record and many lives are lost due to inaccessibility to health centers. According to WHO, 25 percent of people in Madhya Pradesh and Orissa could not access health care because of locational problems. Similarly, in Nepal 15 percent of life's equivalent healthy years are lost in diseases, many citizens could not get treatment, again due to lack of access to health center, as 85 percent of Nepali population lives in villages and in difficult terrains. In Pakistan problem of inadequate fund along with poverty in some regions like North West Frontier Province and Baluchistan are major worry. Taking Afghanistan, which recently included in SAARC a very appalling picture emerges. In war-ragged Afghanistan 70 percent of population is living in health vulnerability and a woman dies in every 27 minutes due to pregnancy related complications.

On the front of environment security, the picture is unsatisfactory, South Asia has 15 percent of known biological wealth of the world, but no country has stringent regulations to preserve it. Mostly assumed that environment is a domain of civil society and government limits to making regulations and no proper implementation take place at ground level. Climate change is a disturbing phenomenon but most of South Asian governments are insensitive towards it. Community and personal security in the region is also under scanner. The growth of fundamentalist forces and terrorist organizations in the region has jeopardized personal and community security. This also includes ethnic conflicts, which crippled almost all major countries of South Asia, making life defenseless. Coming to political security, South Asia has little to its credit. Democracy index of Economy Intelligence Unit of The Economist, consider no country in South Asia as complete democracy, it is flawed, or authoritarian, which comprise worlds' largest democracy India.

Solution

Problem is with the attitude of governments who are not discarding traditional idea of security, which consist of securing national boundary and amassing military power. Still in corridors of power special celebration, take place when some strategic achievements like successful test of missile, acquiring military hardware from foreign country, etc. No serious thought on the positions these countries have in Human Development Report, expect Sri Lank no country comes under the list of top hundred countries. Not even once it is came to public notice that our government or any other government in South Asia are ashamed of its position in Human Development Report and efforts will be taken to bring desire change. Governments of this still swear by power and this has its impact on tis citizens. The love acquire to power is deep down to the individual level and this is one of the reason why still human life is very less valuable in these nations. Certain improvements are required are it must start from the top.

Lack of vision and inappropriate planning to achieve human security makes it more susceptible, and leave fewer scopes of convalescing. Prerequisite is to accept the value of human security particularly for bringing change in life of citizens. Priority can only be set once attaining human security becomes an agenda and sumptuous spending on strategic affairs is diverted to social sector. Sooner governments realize the worth of human security the better for everyone. The ranking in development index is a lesson for all governments of the region. Still there is time for a new beginning or else we will engulf in problems with few achievements here and there to count and to be fallaciously proud of them.

Viruses Still an Issue For Health IT

A recent article reports that a computer virus compromised thousands of patient records belonging to a Canadian hospital. The virus attacked Netcare, Alberta Health Service's electronic health record earlier this year. The virus was Trojan horse similar to Coreflood, which aims to steal data and send it over the internet to a hacker.

The hospital was able to remove the virus once it was detected. They do not believe the Netcare system itself was compromised; rather it seems the virus accessed data through an infected client computer. Although the hospital is not sure any data was actually stolen, they notified over 11,000 patients whose information may have been leaked.

Despite media coverage, public awareness, and complex information security laws like the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), computer viruses are still a problem. Viruses and other malicious software are a threat to any business, but the healthcare industry should be especially vigilant because medical data is so sensitive.

No system can be 100% safe against viruses and malicious software. However, there are some simple precautions you can take. First and most important, be sure every computer at your office is running antivirus software. Be sure that your antivirus is set to auto-update everyday and scan every night if possible. AVG has great software that will protect against viruses as well as spyware.

Second, make sure your computer is protected by a firewall. Firewalls help block unwanted traffic, and they can prevent viruses from getting to your computer. Any Windows computer running XP Service Pack 2 or later has a built-in firewall. There are many third-party firewalls available as a stand-alone program, or built into antivirus suites. Whichever firewall you use, make sure it denies any connections you don't explicitly approve.

Third, make sure your computer automatically updates. Keeping your software current is critical because updates can fix vulnerabilities in the software that viruses or hackers can exploit. You can set Windows to automatically download and install updates for you. In most cases, your computer will restart itself, and you won't have to do anything.

Finally, don't let the threat of viruses and malicious software discourage you from purchasing an electronic medical record or using computers at your office. Although you should be concerned about the security of your patient's data, observing these simple precautions should keep you safe. Electronic medical records and computers offer tremendous benefits to your practice that far outweigh the risks of viruses.

HIPAA Law Protects Against Improper Disclosure of Health Information by Health Care Providers

In June 2009, a 22-year-old Honolulu mother of three young children was sentenced to a year in prison for illegally accessing another woman's medical records and posting on a MySpace page that she had HIV.

The State of Hawaii brought charges against the woman under a state statute criminalizing the unauthorized access to a computer; and which categorized the conduct of the defendant as a class B felony.

According to accounts of the incidents that led to the woman's conviction, there was a feud between the victim and the victim's sister-in-law, a friend of the defendant. The defendant, who worked as a patient service representative at the hospital where the victim was a patient, accessed the computer for the victim's sister-in-law.

Over the course of approximately ten months, the defendant accessed the patient's medical records three times through a computer. After she learned of the victim's medical condition, the defendant posted on her MySpace page that the victim had HIV. In a second posting, she said the victim was dying of AIDS.

The victim complained to hospital officials of the unauthorized access. After an internal investigation the hospital terminated the defendant's employment.

The defendant's conduct, of course, was egregious and inexcusable. The one-year jail term handed down by the Court exceeded the term recommended by the prosecutor. Nevertheless, beyond the issue of holding the defendant accountable for her actions some may question to what extent the hospital should bear responsibility for the breaches of confidentiality that occurred.

Federal law imposes statutory burdens on health care providers to protect against the improper use or disclosure of private health information and to reasonably limit uses and disclosures to the minimum necessary to accomplish their intended purpose.

Specifically, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996's ("HIPAA") privacy regulations became effective on April 14, 2003. HIPAA is intended to protect consumers' health information, allow consumers greater access and control to such information, enhance health care, and finally to create a national framework for health privacy protection. HIPAA covers health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers that conduct certain financial and administrative transactions electronically.

In addition to the privacy regulations, HIPAA's security rules became effective on April 21, 2005. Together the privacy and security regulations are the only national set of regulations that governs the use and disclosure of private, confidential and sensitive information.

Under HIPAA's Security Rule, the standards for the protection of electronic information covered by HIPAA are divided into three groups: Administrative safeguards, Physical safeguards and Technical safeguards.

A couple of the most significant required safeguards under HIPAA are the Administrative "Sanction Policy" and "Security Awareness Training" safeguards.

The sanction policy standard requires a communication to all employees regarding the disciplinary action that will be taken by the covered entity for violations of HIPAA. The sanction policy should have a notice of civil or criminal penalties for misuses or misappropriation of health information and make employees aware that violations may result in notification to law enforcement officials and regulatory, accreditation, and licensure organizations.

The security awareness training standard requires all employees, agents, and contractors to participate in information security awareness training programs. Based on job responsibilities, the covered entity should require individuals to attend customized education programs that focus on issues regarding use of health information and responsibilities regarding confidentiality and security.

The HIPAA privacy and security regulations require a privacy officer and security officer to be designated by the covered entity. The privacy and security officer should continually analyze and manage risk by thoroughly assessing potential risks and vulnerabilities, and implementing related security measures.

The U.S. Department of Justice ("DOJ") clarified the penalties that may be assessed and against whom for HIPAA violations. Covered entities and individuals whom "knowingly" obtain or disclose individually identifiable health information in violation of HIPAA may be fined up to $50,000, as well as imprisonment up to one year.

Offenses committed under false pretenses allow penalties to be increased--a $100,000 fine, with up to five years in prison. Finally, offenses committed with the intent to sell, transfer, or use individually identifiable health information for commercial advantage, personal gain or malicious harm permit fines of $250,000, and imprisonment for up to ten years.

Given the security breach that led to the tragic events, including the one-year jail term for the defendant, Hawaii employers, health care providers and health plans should review their privacy and HIPAA policies and conduct an audit of their practices in order to protect against the improper use and disclosure of private health information and to reduce the risk of privacy breaches in their own organization.

Disability Benefits: Health Insurance While Disabled

If you receive disability benefits from Social Security you are eligible for health insurance coverage after 24 months. Here are the basics of your health insurance coverage.

After you are approved for disability benefits you will have to wait 24 months to receive health insurance coverage. After the 24 month waiting period you will be covered by Medicare for hospital visits, outpatient expenses, and prescription drugs. Here is how your Medicare coverage works.

There are three parts of Medicare coverage. Medicare part A covers your hospital stays. There are no monthly premiums for this coverage; however in 2006 there is a $952 deductible before Medicare pays your hospital expenses. After you meet your deductibles Medicare typically pays 80% of your expenses and you are responsible for 20% of the cost. Medicare part B pays your outpatient expenses including visits to your doctor. There is a monthly premium for Medicare part B in 2006 is $88.50 per month.

You are eligible for prescription drug coverage under Medicare. This coverage is part D of Medicare. You may be required to pay a monthly premium depending on the plan you choose. Medicare part D plans are administered by private insurance companies and there is a $250 annual deductible before Medicare pays for your prescription drugs.
